Meet psychotherapist Jonathan Marinatos
Qualifications and Training
As a licensed psychotherapist and counsellor, I specialise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I hold a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC). Currently, I’m enhancing my expertise through a two-year advanced training program in ACT.
My Expat Journey
Originally from Australia, I moved to Denmark in 2022 to build a new life and family with my Danish wife. This transition brought unexpected mental health challenges. I experienced intense stress, a loss of identity, and profound loneliness. It was the darkest and most difficult period of my life, putting enormous pressure on my relationship and family.
Despite the struggle, I found the courage to ask for help. Through professional psychotherapy, applying ACT skills, and support from loved ones, I recovered, reclaiming my life and relationships.
This profound personal experience inspired me to establish Act of Living. As a licensed psychotherapist and fellow international living in Denmark, I intimately understand the mental health challenges and unique struggles associated with expat life.
